Acupuncture for Pets
How
does acupuncture work? Acupuncture stimulates the release of the body’s own
pain relieving and anti-inflammatory substances. It causes relaxation of
muscles at the site of needle insertion and more distant locations of the body,
creating both a local and generalized pain relieving effects.
Also, acupuncture improves tissue blood flow, oxygenation and removal
of metabolic wastes and toxins.
What problems/conditions can acupuncture help with?
Acupuncture can be helpful with dogs and cats with hip arthritis, back and neck pain, and shoulder pain.
Dr. Casey likes to use acupuncture in combination with pain medication with the goal of keeping pets comfortable and to improve quality of life.
